Well, the pingpong ball that is my manuscript is back in my hands (Gabrielle works fast!), and I am tempted to tear into it immediately. However, I know that I have to concentrate on packing this weekend instead of editing. Pooh.
At least soon I will be installed in my new apartment, and the agony of furniture shopping will quickly end thereafter. I hate furniture shopping. You’d think I’d love it because I love decorating and designing, but see, here’s the problem: I have very specific taste and very specific items in mind when I go shopping and if I can’t find exactly that, then I get frustrated and cranky. It’s the same with clothes. I’ll think “I need a loveseat-sized sofa bed in linen with a storage ottoman to match” or “I want a sharp, well tailored dress that ends above the knee with an empire waist and flutter sleeves, preferably in dark purple or red”. The problem is, apparently I am the only one that season that wants something like that, so of course they don’t exist! My biggest problem is knowing what I want before I go shopping, instead of just going shopping and seeing if I like something.
I also go some really fabulous feedback in regards to a short story that I submitted to an anthology, and I’m really looking forward to being able to share it once the official decision and announcements have been made.
I’m also looking for a publication to submit a 25 000 dark urban fantasy novella to; suggestions?
Wow – so much of 2010 has come and gone and it’s the first time in years that I haven’t actively been working on a novel on the side. The editing for “Triptych” doesn’t take up as much time as all that, but I think I just am enjoying the break. Once NaNoWriMo rolls around I will be diving headfirst into “The Skylark’s Song” or “Madmen and Blackflies” (or both!)
